Peppermint essential oil is used medicinally all around the world. The cooling effect helps relieve muscle pains and that is why I was first drawn to using it in my remedies. The presence of calcium antagonism is what helps relieve pain, swelling and inflammation. Inhaling the oil can relieve headache pain, motion sickness, nausea, feelings of depression and anxiety as well as promote mental alertness. Peppermint has been used for respiratory relief from asthma, bronchitis and sinus infections because it can aid in clearing air passageways and calm coughs. This oil can also prevent infection in the gums, soothe indigestion and other digestive symptoms.

Peppermint oil has stimulating effects which have been known to increase blood circulation. Once the vapor from this oil touches the olfactory nerve endings, ones pulse rate and blood circulation increase. This helps oxygenate the organs of the body, increase metabolism and oxygenate the brain. Getting adequate oxygen flow in the brain can prevent onset of certain diseases that affect the brain such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s.
